At ask the OT we aim to provide a child centred OT service, to promote the child’s physical motor social and emotional wellbeing. Play and fun are the foundations on which the service operates.
Children with coordination, social, emotional and/or sensory regulation difficulties are free to explore the clinic space which includes toys, swings, animals, and a relaxation area. There is also a large outdoor play area where the child can learn explore and move (weather permitting).
Following graduation in 1997, from Brunel University, London, with an Honours Degree in Occupational Therapy, BSc.Hons(OT), I worked for government departments, with children and adults across the UK, Australia and Ireland.
As a registered member of the Association of Occupational Therapists Ireland (AOTI) and CORU the Irish regulatory body for health and social care professionals, I follow a best practice guideline set by these regulator bodies including continuous professional development. I am currently undertaking a Postgraduate Diploma in Sensory Integration through Sheffield Hallum University.
Supporting individuals to maximise their learning in school or college is a personal goal for me.
I have focused my training and professional development, since I qualified in the areas of Sensory Processing Difficulties, Autism and childhood developmental difficulties. I have dedicated my clinic to educating, supporting and treating children and adults with motor sensory difficulties.
Handwriting, concentration difficulties as well as making and keeping friends are all target areas for my interventions. I work closely with local Speech and Language therapists, Psychologists and Physios and teachers to provide a holistic service.
I work from a family friendly clinic and carry out home and school visits as necessary I have been working exclusively in my private practice clinic since 2013. The clinic includes sensory integration swinging and static equipment. Outside there are climbing walls, zip line and trampoline (weather permitting).
